The Fascinating World of Humus and Tzatziki, A Traveler’s Guide

The Fascinating World of Humus and Tzatziki: A Traveller's Guide

The Fascinating World of Humus and Tzatziki, A Traveller’s Guide: We chose to go to Wrightsville Beach after thinking about all of your great suggestions. We’ve heard so many great things about it, and it’s only a little over two hours away.

Plus, it’s right next to Wilmington, a charming city I’ve been longing to see. Of course, I can’t wait to lay out in the sun and put my toes in the sand, even if it’s just for a long weekend. Since it’s finally warm enough to wear a bathing suit , I’ve been loving spring and summer foods that are light and fresh…

    Why people I love hummus.

To be honest, one of my favorite things to do is make different kinds of hummus, like fajita or “everything” bagel-inspired ones. This beauty is the newest healthy dip I’ve been making. I’m always looking for new ways to change up one of my all-time favourites.

About this hummus with sauce and cucumbers

Friends, this hummus is the bomb. This smooth, dreamy chickpea dip will make you go crazy if you like tzatziki and hummus. This fresh, delicious hummus is like tzatziki but with more flavor and less sourness. It is thicker and heartier.

This hummus is more than just a dipping sauce like regular tzatziki. It has cool cucumber, sour lemon, fresh dill, cheesy feta, and creamy, slightly sour yogurt in it. But I do think you should dip everything in a vat of this stuff.

    What is Tzatziki?

Greek yogurt, garlic cloves, lemon juice, olive oil, and fresh herbs are used to make tzatziki sauce, which can be used as a dip or sauce. Fresh plants like dill, mint, and even Italian parsley can be used in tzatziki, depending on where it’s made.

What goes well with yogurt from Greece?

This smooth Greek yogurt sauce can be used in a lot of different ways. In Greece, it is usually served as a mezze with other light foods or grilled meats. Tzatziki is often served as a dip for breads and vegetables, but it’s also used to season Greek sandwiches.

To go with pita chips or vegetables, you can serve tzatiki hummus as a dip. It can also be used to put on deli meat sandwiches or as a sauce for grilled chicken, pork, seafood, and meats. Serving suggestion from the chef: To make this dip a meal, serve it with saganaki shrimp and Greek lemon rice.

How to make the best hummus with cucumber

    1. If you want the best hummus, I suggest cooking your own dry chickpeas. I use a slow cooker or crock pot to make things really easy and fuss-free. You can find directions in the notes if you want to give it a try!
    2. You need to take the cucumbers apart and drain them. The cucumbers in this cucumber dip recipe come from a hothouse. To shred the cucumber, make sure you use the box grater’s big holes. Also, make sure to salt the chopped cucumber and let it drain for at least two to three hours before adding it to the hummus. A wet dip is the worst thing that can happen.
    3. The hummus doesn’t need salt! I think you should wait to salt the dip until AFTER you stir in the cucumber since you are already salting the cucumber. There may be no need to add salt to the dip itself.
    4. Greek yogurt: Greek yogurt is yogurt that has been drained and is used in this dip with feta. You can use plain yogurt or sour cream instead, and you can strain it yourself if you’d like.
    5. Use bean cooking liquid to change the consistency. A thick hummus is what I like. Add more chickpea liquid  one tablespoon at a time until you get the consistency you want. Do this if you want it to be thinner and easier to pour.
    6. Spread this cucumber hummus on chips, vegetables, or bread to use as a dip. You can also use it as a creamy sauce for chicken, meat, fish, and roasted vegetables.
